THE GRAND VOYAGE: provence

After three lovely months in San Sebastián, M/S Woodstockholm weighs anchor and sails out of the Bay of Biscay towards new adventures. We round the Iberian peninsula, pass through Gibraltar, and eventually berth somewhere off the shore of Marseille and the French Riviera. This will be the point of departure for the next leg of The Grand Voyage: the spring and summer destination PROVENCE.

One of France’s most colourful regions – a historic crucible where ancient Ligures, Celts and seafaring Greeks in time shared the first Roman province beyond the Alps – Provincia Romana (or just Provincia for short, from which the area got its name). What does such a place taste like?

Even the medieval popes of Avignon probably guessed that the popularity of aioli and tapenade would endure for 700 years, but perhaps not that salade niçoise could be ordered at every other summer café all the way up to Österlen (which by the way is called ”The Provence of the Nordics”). It is said that a bowl of bouillabaise contains all the colours of the rainbow: rosé, yellow ochre, olive, azure and lavender …

– Don’t wait Toulon or you’ll Nice out! Welcome, or as they say in Occitan: Planvengudas!

Our menu from the Provence theme
Table full of food

Woodstockholm is always changing.

Menus evolve with the seasons, the dining room takes on new themes, and our record collection keeps growing. We care deeply about good food, good wine and good hospitality, but we also like a room full of conversation, personality and people who feel comfortable being whatever they want to be.
